Our changing community

Kent County has grown and changed over the years. The needs we once saw have changed. Senior citizens represent over a third of those we provide assistance to with utility bills, prescription costs, and more. WIN helps single parent families, two parent families, migrant workers and their families, and teens. As our community changes, so do the services we offer.
You can feel good about your donations, knowing that WIN partners with existing organizations to offer families comprehensive support to meet their needs, stepping in when existing services are either absent or inadequate.

Student Needs

At the end of the 2007 school year, Kent County's attendance rate was the 3rd worst in the state.

The percentage of High School students passing the required High School Assessment in Algebra was the second worst in the state.

The graduation rate was the 4th worst in the state of Maryland.

Many of our 8th grade students (46%-52%) need more work to attain proficiency in math and in reading.

Kent County's overall school suspension rates were the second highest in the state in 2006, the last year published.

The Alley is here to help change these statistics and help make our teens successful in both school and life!

Together we CAN make a difference!
