What is the WIN Store? The WIN Store is the primary source of income for Women In Need, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.	Since you are a non-profit, don’t you receive grant money? Actually, no. WIN is supported by two primary sources of income, our Board of Directors and the proceeds generated from the store.	There are many ways that you can help to support WIN.
What does Women In Need do? WIN helps local individuals and families in economic crisis through its Client Services Division. WIN is also the primary support for The Alley Youth & Community Center, offering area youth tutoring, mentoring and more.	Who prices the merchandise? Our volunteer staff. Most items are priced well below their retail value. Antiques and special collectables are assessed by volunteers with expertise in those areas and are priced accordingly. Our volunteers work hard to serve at the store; they provide over 200 hours every month of faithful service that benefits our community.	First, by shopping here. You can feel good about shopping at the WIN Store because every dollar you spend keeps the wheels of service turning.
How do you help? By providing assistance for such things as utilities, rent, mortgage, furniture and household items, as well as prescription and medical needs. Individuals, businesses, college students, families who need a break, families who want to save money, anyone who wants to support WIN!	Second, you can donate. We are so blessed by the generosity of this community, and it’s what keeps us in business.
Who do you help? Don’t let the name fool you, WIN serves the entire community. While targeted families are generally those headed by working single mothers with limited resources, WIN also helps single fathers, senior citizens and teens. Women in Need is a statistical reality, not a limiting principle. WIN does, however, currently limit available services to residents of Kent County, MD & the immediate surrounding area.	What can I donate? We are happy to accept any and all household items, as long as they are clean and in working order. Furniture that is donated must be free of rips or tears and not stained. Computers must be Windows ME or above for PC’s and OS 9.2 or later for Mac’s.	Thirdly, you can volunteer! Give us a call or stop by the WIN Flea Market for information on becoming a WIN volunteer.
Since your merchandise is all donated, why isn’t it cheaper? We’re glad you asked. The cost of staying open is high! More than 48¢ of every dollar is spent on just keeping the doors open. The space we occupy is prime commercial real estate for which we pay top dollar, and we all have been hit by the utility increase.	What can’t I donate? We do not accept clothes or books. Clothes are the primary resource for two other thrift stores in our area: The Nearly New, which benefits the Hospital Auxiliary and Hidden Treasures, which supports Kent Center.	Finally, we would like to thank you for your patronage and we hope to continue serving our community for years to come.
